Athletic Intelligence Program

Athletic Intelligence Program

Sharpen your mind and your game

Excel in Mental Strategy

In the high-stakes game of sports, every second and every play counts.

But the true difference between good and great athletes isn't just physical prowess.

It's also the sharpness of the mind.

With the Athletic Intelligence Program, spearheaded by Chris Bowie's innovative cognitive training tools, we're stepping up to bat to help athletes across all sports. It's about making smarter plays, faster decisions and gaining that competitive edge that can turn a close game into a win.

The Training

Transform not just how you play, but how you think and react. It’s the real secret to unlocking your full athletic potential. This unique training targets:

• visual & auditory attention
• reaction time
• processing speed
• Decision-making

Core Cognitive Processes

All athletes and clients can benefit from this programming regardless of their participation in baseball programs.

Reaction time

Using both computer-based and three-dimensional reaction time devices, athletes perform drills to improve basic fine and gross motor speed.

Decision Making and Inhibitory Control

All sports put athletes in a position of having to make quick decisions, and to know when to delay or inhibit a reaction. The cognitive process of inhibitory control allows us to make split second decisions about when to go or don’t go in a variety of contexts. Athletes perform drills using computer-based and real world scenarios with props and athletic equipment.

Visual Attention

Athletes in all sports are tasked with quickly finding a visual target (teammate, puck, ball) and discriminating targets from distractors and conflicting information. Visual attention is trained by having athletes identify targets from distractors in near and far distance situations.

Auditory Attention

Did he say cut off the throw or go? Did she say lob or look? Was that my teammate or opponent saying, “Here!”? During the fast pace of sporting activities, athletes are tasked with making millisecond decisions based on auditory

information that is often blurred and blended by the complex environment. We have developed tools to make auditory identification and discrimination in perceptual training computer tasks and in simulated athletic environments with teammates and opponents.

Depth and Peripheral Perception

The ability to find and track moving objects is critical across sporting demands. Depth perception training uses drills to shift from near/far vision and anticipate the speed of moving objects in relation to the athlete’s own movement. Peripheral vision training helps athletes expand their “useful field of view” to quickly recognize target and non-target objects in an athletic situation.

Emotion Regulation & Failure Tolerance

As athletes progress through the program building their core cognitive skills, we introduce titrated difficulty levels to push them to work through frustration that will ultimately manifest when we push ourselves to perform at the highest level. Chris likes to get athletes to “Practice the Impossible so the Hard is Easy” and push them to learn ways to deal with the big frustrations in the practice environment so they can perform at game time.

Elevate Your Game Sense

Unlock your athlete's full potential across any sport with our Athletic Intelligence Program, designed to sharpen mental agility and decision-making for players of all ages.
